How you can share the health
Contributions to NorthBay Healthcare Foundation touch and enhance the lives of thousands of people each year. All donations are used to enhance patient services provided by NorthBay Healthcare, addressing local needs for state-of-the-art equipment, facilities and programs. You can make donations to specific services like NorthBay Cancer Center, NorthBay Hospice & Bereavement, or to the area of greatest need.
Unlike many other non-profit organizations, your contributions stay in the community to benefit your family, friends and neighbors. Your gifts help to ensure that we will be here when you have a need for quality health care close to home. Thanks to community generosity, we continue to expand our state-of-the-art services right here in Solano County. From our Heart & Vascular Center to our new emergency departments, your donations help make these services a reality.
There are a number of ways you can share the health:
• Invest in a Charitable Gift Annuity
• Establish an Endowment
• Include the Foundation in your Will
• Become a Sponsor of our fund-raising events, such as the Solano Wine & Food Jubilee or the Golf & Tennis Classic
• Attend one of our fund-raising events, such as the Solano Food & Wine Jubilee or the Golf & Tennis Classic
• Join the NorthBay Guild
• Make a donation by phone at (707) 646-3138, or on line.
A Charitable Gift Annuity enables donors to support NorthBay in return for a lifetime income and a sizeable tax deduction. A portion of the income from the annuity is tax-free and in some cases it is exempt from capital gains tax.
NorthBay Healthcare Foundation, the fund-raising arm of the NorthBay Healthcare System, as a member of the American Council on Gift Annuities (ACGA) can now arrange charitable gift annuities without involving a third party, assuring that even more of your donation goes to the causes you support.
With gift annuities, payments are fixed and not affected by the stock market or interest rates. Size of the payments depends on the interest rate return set for all non-profits by the ACGA. That helps donors make philanthropic decisions based on the causes they support rather than variations in rates. Size of payments will also depend on the value of the contribution and the age of the donors. Upon the donor's death, the remaining balance of the annuity will be transferred to NorthBay, and used for the purpose the donor specified when the gift was made.
An Endowment is a transfer of money or property to an institution such as NorthBay Healthcare Foundation. Those creating the endowment may stipulate its usage, such as to provide funds for the NorthBay Cancer Center or the Alzheimer Day Center. In some circumstances, those creating the endowment may require the funds to be invested, with the principal remaining intact, either for a defined period of time, or in perpetuity. This would allow the donation to have an impact over a longer period of time than if it were spent all at once.
Make a Bequest to the Foundation. Bequests are the transfers of wealth that occur upon a donor's death. They may include transfers by means of a Will or a Trust. Bequests can take several forms. They may be a:
• Specific bequest - a certain amount of cash, securities, or property
• General bequest - property that is similar to all other items distributed, usually cash
• Percentage bequest - a stated percentage of the donor's estate
• Residual bequest - all or a portion of what remains of the estate after specific and general bequests are distributed.
